Development Features
The Department of Vehicle Engineering is dedicated to cultivating skilled professionals in vehicle technology through five key fields: Smart Vehicle Networking, Smart Energy Applications, Smart Image Recognition, Smart Vehicle Maintenance, and Smart Battery Maintenance. The program aims to equip students with skills in research and development (R&D), maintenance, sales, and management, preparing them to become competent smart electric vehicle technicians with strong hands-on abilities and professional certifications.
Currently, the department has partnered with Kia Sime Darby Taiwan to establish the Smart Electric Vehicle Talent Development Center, jointly training specialists in electric vehicle maintenance. This collaboration bridges the gap between industry and higher education, enhancing graduates’ employability and supporting their career development.
The establishment of the department aligns with government education policies, domestic industry development trends and demands, and the broader environment of technological advancement. It also supports the university’s overall development goals by adhering to the principles of interdepartmental integration and resource sharing, actively fostering collaboration among industry, government, and academia, and working with social and industrial sectors to cultivate professionals with comprehensive vehicle technology expertise.
The department features a practical, hands-on teaching approach, complemented by professional certification training. By combining traditional and advanced vehicle maintenance technologies, students receive extensive practical training, obtain relevant professional licenses, and enhance their language proficiency. Students are also encouraged to actively participate in industry–academia collaboration. The goal is to ensure that graduates possess the technical expertise and workplace competitiveness demanded by the industry, enabling them to pursue careers as professional vehicle maintenance technicians, bodywork specialists, and vehicle inspection and service engineers.
Following the university’s educational mission—“To cultivate professional technical talent with practical skills, innovation, and employability for industry”—and its five major educational guidelines: fostering a strong work ethic, developing high-quality practical skills, enhancing humanistic literacy, nurturing outstanding industrial talent, and achieving full employment after graduation, the department is committed to aligning with the nation’s future economic development goals. By integrating with regional industry needs, we aim to broaden students’ knowledge, strengthen their technical foundation, and focus on training engineering and technical professionals with expertise in vehicle maintenance and professional service.
